Graham: Mueller investigation a ‘political rectal exam’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a frequent vocal supporter of President Trump, on Wednesday described special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation as a “political rectal exam.”

“After two years of a political rectal exam, nobody’s been looked at more than Trump,” the senator said in an appearance on Fox News. “They found nothing. But the answer for the Democrats is ‘Trump’s gotta go.’ ”

{mosads}“They will not beat him at the ballot box and if they try to impeach him, they’re going to ensure his reelection,” Graham continued. “I want the American people to know that Bob Mueller did his job.”

Mueller’s investigators wrote in the long-awaited report that was released with redactions last month that they were “unable” to say definitively whether Trump committed obstruction of justice because of “difficult issues” presented by the evidence.

Democrats in Congress have since moved opened — or moved forward with — a series of investigations into Trump’s campaign, businesses and administration, which Graham called “political revenge.”

Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said earlier this month he will not ask Mueller to testify before his panel about his nearly two-year-long investigation, but said the special counsel could testify if he wished.

“I’m not going to do any more. Enough already. It’s over,” Graham said.
