Shaheen sidelined after skin surgery

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) is recovering from routine skin surgery and will miss work for part of this week.

Ryan Nickel, a spokesperson for Shaheen, said in a statement to WMUR that the procedure took place last week.

“On Friday, Senator Shaheen underwent a routine surgery to manage benign basal cell carcinoma,” said Nickel, as reported by the news outlet.

{mosads}”The procedure went well and Senator Shaheen is resting on the recommendation of her doctor,” Nickel said. “She expects to return to work later this week and in the meantime, has arranged for by proxy voting in her hearings.”

 

WMUR reported that Shaheen, 71, has previously undergone this surgery.

Shaheen took office in 2009 and is the Granite State’s senior senator. She is a member of the Armed Services Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee.
