Jill Stein provided documents to Senate committee’s Russia investigation

Jill Stein’s campaign has turned over documents to the Senate Intelligence Committee currently investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election, BuzzFeed News reported.

Stein — who ran for president in 2016 as the Green Party’s candidate — provided the documents, but it isn’t clear when they were turned over or the time period they cover, according to BuzzFeed News.

“We got a sufficient supply. We got an adequate response from them,” Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Richard Burr (R-N.C.) told BuzzFeed on Tuesday.

Burr and vice chair of the committee Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) have both expressed interest in her attendance at a 2015 dinner in Moscow hosted by the Russian state media company RT, which many view as a propaganda tool of the Russian government.

At the event, she shared a table with Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Warner has also pointed out that Stein has been a vocal defender of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who helped publish hacked Democratic National Committee documents weeks before the 2016 election.

The committee requested the documents late last year and the Stein campaign said it would cooperate by providing all communications that were relevant to the committee’s investigation.

According to a source close to the committee that spoke with BuzzFeed News, Stein’s campaign turned over the documents in recent weeks.

The Stein campaign has said it will soon complete its submission to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

The committee is also expected to seek information about Stein’s past appearances on RT.
