Missed the $1.33 billion Powerball jackpot? You may still be a winner — here’s how

(NEXSTAR) — After a three-month losing streak, a ticket was finally able to match the winning numbers for the $1.326 billion Powerball jackpot. If you aren’t holding the winning ticket, which was sold in Oregon, that doesn’t mean you aren’t a winner.

While there was only one jackpot-winning ticket, there were more than 4.5 million tickets that did score a prize, Powerball said in a release.

There are nine total ways to win while playing Powerball. Overall, you have a 1 in 24.87 chance of winning any payout.

On the lowest end is $4. All you have to do is match the red Powerball number, or match a white ball number and the Powerball number. If you opt into Power Play when you buy your ticket, you could grow this prize to as much as $40.

A Power Play, which costs an extra $1 per play, can increase your non-jackpot prize by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. The multiplier is randomly selected before each drawing, and the 10X multiplier is only available when the jackpot is advertised at $150 million or less.

If you match two of the main numbers and the Powerball, you’ll win $7. The same is true if you match three of the main numbers. Matching three main numbers and the Powerball or four main numbers, that’s a $100 payout.

To land a $50,000 prize, you’ll have to match four main numbers and the Powerball. If you match five main numbers but not the Powerball, your ticket is worth $1 million. In Saturday’s drawing, seven ticketholders were able to win $1 million prizes.

If you buy a ticket in California, however, your prizes could be even larger. In Powerball and Mega Millions, California is the only participating jurisdiction that has pari-mutuel prize amounts for non-jackpot prizes. This means the otherwise fixed payouts can vary based on ticket sales and the number of winners.

Regardless of where you buy your ticket or how many numbers you’ve matched, be sure to hang onto it and sign it. Where you can claim your prize and how long you have to do so will vary based on where you live.

As for the Powerball jackpot, it will now reset to $20 million for the next drawing, which is slated for Monday, April 8. Powerball is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition to Mondays and Saturdays, drawings are held every Wednesday at 10:59 p.m. ET.
