Inside the $180K gift bag given to Oscar nominees
(NEXSTAR) – Oscar nominees at the 2024 Academy Awards won’t just be walking away with a golden statue (if they’re lucky). Those nominated in the most prestigious categories will also be gifted mocktail kits, chalet stays, luxury vegan chocolate and more.
The “Everyone Wins” gift package is put together by Distinctive Assets and delivered to nominees in the top acting and directing categories ahead of the ceremony, the company said.
There are 60 freebies, vouchers and items in the gift package, including a:
- Three-night stay for 10 people at a chalet in Zermatt, Switzerland
- Portable, retractable seat you can carry around so your bag or briefcase won’t have to touch the floor
- 3D printed full-color selfie figurine in an acrylic display case
- Wine fridge that holds 45 bottles, Mexican tequila, Scottish gin…
- …and a mocktail making kit for those abstaining from alcohol
- Three-night stay at a Saint Barth villa
- Seats at a show that combines “magic, mind reading, hypnosis and comedy”
- Voucher for micro-needling and skin tightening procedures
- “Gourmet” popcorn and vegan chocolates
- Private session with a celebrity sound healer
- Complimentary project management on a home remodel
- Seven-day retreat at a Southern California spa
- Rubik’s Cube
The items and experiences all tally up to a $180,000 price tag, Distinctive Assets estimates.
“While this gift bag does, as always, have an impressive six-figure value, that is neither our focus nor goal,” Lash Fary, founder of Distinctive Assets, said in a press release. “Just as any A-list actor doesn’t ‘need’ millions of dollars to walk onto a film set, these gifts are given based on the invaluable stardust these nominees can bestow upon a brand. Of course they can afford to buy these things; they are also in a uniquely favorable marketing position. This is a straightforward win/win transaction.”
The 96th Academy Awards take place Sunday, March 10, at 4 p.m. Pacific Time.
