Raleigh-Durham International Airport has restored power to its main terminal after water damage caused a major power outage at the North Carolina airport this morning.

The airport’s Twitter account reported around noon on Friday that power had been restored to the operating system at Terminal 2, which had lost power around 4 a.m. Contractors replaced the amp circuit breaker to fully restore power.

Long lines and some delays are expected to continue throughout the day, airport officials wrote on Twitter.

A spokesperson told The Associated Press that the outage was caused by water damage to a water distribution terminal. Terminal 2 is the airport’s busiest terminal, and the outage affected passenger ticketing services and security systems, causing major delays that are expected to continue throughout the day.

Two-thirds of Terminal 2’s operating systems have been restored and some gates are now operational. We appreciate your patience as we continue to resolve the power disruption. Travelers should continue to expect long lines; check with your airline for updated flight status.
