McCain: Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner had ‘no goddamn business’ attending father’s funeral
Meghan Mccain blasted Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner during a Wednesday TV appearance, saying they had “no goddamn business” attending her late father’s 2018 funeral.
While on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” McCain said that the duo wasn’t invited to the memorial service for her father, the late Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain.
“They should never have come,” the television personality and conservative columnist told host Andy Cohen. “They had no business being there.”
She said that she specifically remembered seeing Ivanka.
“It’s something that still angers me, clearly,” she added.
During the segment, Cohen mentioned that McCain referred to former President Trump’s daughter and son-in-law as “funeral crashers” in her new memoir, “Bad Republican.”
“What motivated them to come, do you think?” Cohen asked.
McCain replied, “I’ve been told many different things from many different people.”
Among her suspicions are that the couple wanted to attend the Washington National Cathedral funeral because it “ended up being this enormous moment,” and that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had invited them.
During her conversation with Cohen, McCain also recalled a time when the former president and former first lady Melania Trump called her after reports began circulating that Trump had been making fun of her father’s war injuries.
“It was very uncomfortable because it was the only time I ever had an interaction with them,” Meghan said, claiming that Trump denied the accusations.
She added, “It was the closest they have ever come to realizing what they were doing and the damage it caused.”
McCain has consistently had a strained relationship with the Trump family, notably tweeting at the former president in 2020, “Two years after he died, you still obsess over my dad. It kills you that no one will ever love you or remember you like they loved and remember him.”
