Security footage has surfaced of Noah Green, the 25-year-old man who rammed his car into a barricade at the Capitol last week, buying a knife at a D.C. shop hours before the attack.
The 22-minute video footage shows Green perusing District Cutlery, a specialty knife shop in Union Market, dressed in light jeans, a white hoodie and a protective face mask. He is seen opening several display cases before ultimately selecting and purchasing a $300 Kurosaki model, which he then used later in his attack.
The shop’s owner, Derek Swanson, confirmed that the knife recovered by police at the scene matched the description of the one Green purchased, according to The Washington Post.
Swanson said he didn’t realize Green was the same person who had purchased the knife hours before the incident until Swanson until Metropolitan Police Department officers and FBI agents showed up Saturday, WJLA reports.
The attack, which took place at security barricade at a checkpoint along the fence lining Constitution Avenue, resulted in two deaths. Green killed Capitol Police Officer William “Billy” Evans during the altercation after hitting him with his car. Green was then fatally shot by after brandishing the knife at officers.
The second officer injured during in the incident was released from the hospital over the weekend.
Evans, an 18-year veteran of the force, will lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda on April 13, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced this week.
