Pressley calls Georgia GOP candidates ‘the Bonnie and Clyde of corruption’

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) blasted Georgia GOP Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler on Friday night, calling them “the Bonnie and Clyde of corruption.”

Pressley made an appearance on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” and talked about getting out the vote for Georgia’s upcoming runoff elections set for Jan. 5.

“Georgia, do your thing. I know we’re asking a lot of Georgia. But do your thing, Georgia,” Pressley said. “Do what you do.

“All eyes are on Georgia. [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell [R-Ky.], Loeffler, Perdue — they are the Bonnie and Clyde of corruption,” she added. “They are all the same. We need to regain control of the Senate. Georgia, do what you do.”

The state has already broken voting records in the first week of early voting for the runoffs. On Monday, nearly 168,000 Georgians went to the polls, and 314,000 people cast absentee ballots on the first day of the early voting period.

The election has been hotly contested, as Republicans currently hold a 50-48 majority in the Senate. If both Democratic candidates the Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff beat out incumbents Loeffler and Perdue, the upper chamber would become evenly divided, making Vice President-elect Kamala Harris the tiebreaking vote.
