Tim Ryan praises Lebron James’s new job training Hub in Akron

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) applauded basketball star LeBron James on Tuesday for his latest contribution to the state.

James will be opening a new community facility called House Three Thirty, which will offer financial literacy advice, job training and recreational activities for local youth, according to Time magazine.

“Through many great successes, @KingJames has never forgotten his hometown of Akron. Thank you, Mr. James for your vision and generosity. You have already changed many lives in Summit County and you will change many more,” Ryan wrote on Twitter, sharing a link to a Time Magazine article about the new community center.

The center will be open to everyone in the Akron community, which is also James’ hometown, and will also provide amenities such as a card room, a dinning area, and a coffee bar, Time reported.

“House 330 is going to be a sanctuary for our families,” James said in an interview with Time. “It’s going to be a place where all our families can grow and learn. This will be a hub for everything possible our families will need.”

James previously gifted students who attend his I PROMISE school with free tuition as well as room and board in a February partnership with Kent State University. The program also provides academic support and resources to students and their families.

The new center is set to open in 2022.

Earlier this month Time named James its 2020 “Athlete of the Year.”
