Brewery launches new Biden beer described as ‘inoffensive and not too bitter’

A Wisconsin brewery introduced a new beer bearing the name of President-elect Joe Biden this week, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Biden Beer was introduced at Minocqua Brewing Co. by owner Kirk Bangstad. The new beer is set to be available to patrons from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the Sentinel reported.

Bangstad, who is a Biden supporter, describes the beer as a a kõlsch that is “inoffensive and not too bitter,” the Sentinel reported.

Bangstad received pushback from Oneida County, where his business is located, earlier this year after he placed a Biden for president sign outside of his brewpub. County officials cited that the sign was too large and threatened to fine him, the Sentinel reported.

In response, Bangstad created a #freeourbidensign campaign, allowing brewery goers to purchase Minocqua Brewing T-shirts to offset the cost of the fines. The fines ended up not being issued but Bangstad plans to use the money to support other progressive candidates, according to the Sentinel.

Bangstad recently ran for a seat in the state Assembly but lost to Republican incumbent Rob Swearingen. He says he hopes to bring progressive politics to his county through beer, according to the Sentinel.

The beer will be sold for $15 in a three-pack and $6 for a 32-ounce can.
