Disney World tourist arrested for hiding loaded firearm

A tourist at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Fla., was arrested for hiding a loaded firearm in her purse.

Marcia Temple, 27, was arrested on Oct. 8 for carrying a 9mm handgun that was loaded with 10 rounds, according to the police report shared with The Hill.

According to the police report, an employee for Advent Health who was conducting temperature checks on visitors saw Temple place a pink purse behind a planter before going through a metal detector. The employee notified Deputy Sheriff Nadia Engwall, who investigated the matter.

Engwall said that when said opened the purse to determine the owner, she noticed the butt of a firearm. Temple approached her as she was opening the purse.

Engwall then walked Temple to the Disney Security Building so she could continue the investigation, and that’s when Temple told her that she was from Georgia. She did not have a concealed weapons permit in Florida or Georgia.

Temple was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, according to the police report. She was also prohibited from returning to all Walt Disney properties.

A Disney World spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill, “Our rules are clear. Weapons are not allowed at our resort.”
