Parents of slain soldiers blast Trump’s reported ‘loser’ comments in new ad
Parents of U.S. soldiers who died on the front lines are speaking out in a new ad responding to reports that President Trump called war dead “suckers” and “losers.”
In a 1-minute ad by the veterans’ group VoteVets, parents speak out, saying “my son was not a loser.”
“Donald Trump called our fallen troops ‘suckers’ and ‘losers.’ They can’t speak for themselves, but these 6 Gold Star families speak for our fallen,” the caption of the video reads.

The video follows a report by The Atlantic which claims Trump canceled a trip to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018 because he was worried his hair would become disheveled by the rain.
Sources told the magazine that Trump also asked senior staff why he should go to a cemetery that is filled with “losers.”
The Atlantic story also claims that Trump referred to Marines killed at the Belleau Wood during World War I as “suckers.”
The report has sparked swift backlash, though Trump has angrily denied the claims.
“It was a totally fake story, and that was confirmed by many people that were actually there,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Friday. “It was a terrible thing that somebody could say the kind of things — especially to me because I have done more for the military than almost anybody else.”
