Party City announced that a New Jersey employee has been fired after a viral video showed them repeatedly using racial slurs.
“We have zero tolerance for this type of behavior & language,” the party supply store chain said in a statement on Twitter.
“Party City stands in solidarity with our Black colleagues, customers and communities, and we condemn acts of racism, bigotry and hate. Disregard for basic human rights of any kind has no place in our communities or country, and certainly not at Party City.”
The video showed Jacqueline Michele DeLuca of West New York, identified by New Jersey.com, complaining about a Black driver she alleges ran a red light and “looked at me like it was my … fault.”
Throughout her expletive-ridden comments, made while driving, DeLuca repeatedly uses the n-word.
After her rant went viral and Party City condemned her behavior, DeLuca posted an apology on her Facebook.
“This is NOT who iam,” she wrote in the apology. “I’m sorry again if this affected you and to those who dont know me im sorry x 100000000 because this is not someone I wished ppl to know me by but someone who is about change and equality and with everything going on.”
