San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle announced Thursday that he had given two Super Bowl tickets to the family of an Army sergeant killed in Iraq.

According to The Mercury News, Sgt. Martin “Mick” LaMar was killed in Iraq on Jan. 15, 2011, the same day as his wedding anniversary and the day he was scheduled to return home.

Lamar is survived by his wife Josephine LaMar and five children.

Kittle said he is privileged to team up with United Services Automobile Association (USAA) and Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors to grant a trip to the Super Bowl for Josephine LaMar and Nicolas LaMar, one of her sons.

“As I hit the field to play in the Super Bowl, I find comfort in the fact that 49ers fans Josie and Nicolas LaMar will be cheering our team on,” Kittle said.

USAA is a financial services group focusing on banking, investing and insurance for members of the military, their families and veterans.

In 2018, Kittle set the single-season record for receiving yards by a tight end, earning his first Pro Bowl selection in the process.

The 49ers will go up against the Kansas City Chiefs at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., on Feb. 2.
