Ginsburg released from hospital following cancer surgery

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was released from the hospital Tuesday after undergoing a procedure to remove two nodules in her lungs that were determined to be malignant.

“Justice Ginsburg was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is recuperating at home,” Kathy Arberg, a public information officer for the Supreme Court, said in a statement to CNN on Wednesday.

{mosads}Ginsburg underwent a pulmonary lobectomy at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York on Friday to have the nodules removed from her left lung.

The cancerous growths were discovered during tests in November to diagnose and treat rib fractures she sustained from a fall around that time.

The court spokeswoman said there was no evidence of any remaining nodules following the procedure and that pre-operation scans did not detect disease elsewhere in Ginsburg’s body.

Ginsburg, the Supreme Court’s oldest justice, previously underwent treatment for colorectal cancer in 1999 and she was treated for pancreatic cancer in 2009.
