Michael Bloomberg heads to Iowa: ‘I have a lot of experience which would be useful if I was president’

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Tuesday during a visit to Iowa said he has “a lot of experience” that would come in handy if he was elected president.

Bloomberg highlighted his years of experience in politics, saying he thought his knowledge base could be useful.

“I do think that after 12 years in City Hall, dealing with international problems and security problems and economic problems and creating jobs and the environment and guns and women’s rights and tobacco and these things, that I have a lot of experience which would be useful if I was president of the United States,” Bloomberg told CNN

Former Vice President Joe Biden, who like Bloomberg is contemplating a White House run, said this week he would be the most qualified person to run for president.

Bloomberg emphasized to CNN that Democrats will have to take the government a different direction now that they have a majority in the House.

“If they just sit back and do the same thing that the people they just ousted did then I’m not gonna be happy and I’ve told Nancy Pelosi that,” said Bloomberg, who was a major donor in the November midterms.

Pelosi is expected to be elected Speaker in January.

Bloomberg was in Iowa to promote his new documentary on climate change.

“They are used to having candidates from around the country come here every four years,” he said. “They’ve seen it all and they understand you’re coming here because you want to get to know them and solicit the votes.”

Bloomberg traveled to Iowa last week as well and has said he will decide if he will run in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries by early next year.
