Only one arrest made at white nationalist rally in DC: reports

There was reportedly only one arrest made at Sunday’s “Unite the Right” rally in Washington, D.C.

USA Today reported that John Mulligan, 44, of Pennsylvania, was the only person arrested during the demonstrations and counterdemonstrations.

Police said Mulligan sprayed pepper spray in another person’s face, according to USA Today. The paper also reported that Mulligan had “glass, metal bolts, stones and a slingshot” when he was arrested.

The “Unite the Right” rally was held on the first anniversary of last year’s “Unite the Right” rally that erupted in violence in Charlottesville, Va.

At this year’s rally, there were roughly 15-20 attendees of the “Unite the Right” rally. They were far outnumbered by counterprotesters when thousands descended on D.C. to oppose the white nationalists.

The white nationalists left the rally shortly after 5 p.m. on Sunday, more than two hours before it was originally scheduled to end.
