A video showing an altercation between neighborhood pool residents has gone viral, with a black woman accusing a white man of racial profiling.

The video, uploaded Wednesday to Facebook by user Jasmine Edwards, had 85,000 shares and 4.3 million views by Friday morning.

Multiple news outlets, including BuzzFeed, the New York Post and several local outlets, have written about the video, which shows police attempting to diffuse a situation at a North Carolina community pool.

The video suggests that the white man called police on a black woman and her son because he wanted to verify they had proper access to the pool.

The woman in the video accuses the man of racial profiling, while a police officer tells her that the allegation would need to be “a civil dispute.”

The woman tells the police she has a pool card and, in the video, proves the card provided her access to the pool.

Social media users have started using the hashtag #IDAdam to refer to the white man that the woman in the video calls Adam.

After the key card for the pool works, Adam says in the video, “Yeah, they kind of make their way around sometimes, is the only challenge. But that’s good enough for me today.”

When the woman asks Adam to apologize, he tells her that providing her address “would be fine.”

The incident follows another racially tinged confrontation that also went viral, in which a white woman referred to as “Pool Patrol Paula” online was charged with assaulting a black teen at a local pool in South Carolina, claiming he should not have access.

Sonoco, which identified itself as the employer of the man in the video, released a statement Friday that said Adam is no longer with the company.

“Our core values at Sonoco are built on dignity and respect for all, and we do not condone discrimination of any kind, inside or outside of the workplace,” the statement read.
