Roseanne reverses: ‘I’m staying on Twitter’

Embattled TV star Roseanne Barr said on Thursday that she would remain on Twitter after announcing earlier this week that she would step away from the social media site.

In a tweet, Barr said she would use her Twitter account to “help build a movement of grassroots ppl who wish 2 solve the problems of this neighborhood, The USA.”

The tweet came two days after ABC Entertainment announced that it would scrap the reboot of Barr’s self-titled show in response to a racist comment she made on Twitter about former Obama administration adviser Valerie Jarrett.

The comment compared Jarrett, who is black, to a child of the Islamist group the Muslim Brotherhood and the film “Planet of the Apes.”

Barr faced public backlash for the tweet, prompting her to apologize and later announce that she would be “leaving Twitter.”

ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey announced soon after that the network would be cancelling Barr’s show, which debuted earlier this year to high ratings.

Barr, a staunch supporter of President Trump, has come under fire before for her inflammatory comments, particularly on her Twitter account.
