Poll: Women voters favor Dems over GOP by 20 points

Democrats have a 20-point advantage over Republicans among women voters, according to a new poll.

The annual American Values Survey from the Public Religion Research Institute finds that 51 percent of women say if the 2018 midterm elections were held today, they would back the Democratic candidate.

Just 31 percent of women in the poll say they would favor the Republican candidate in their district.

{mosads}Men favor the Republican candidate over the Democratic candidate, but by the smaller margin of 43 to 36 percent.

In all, 44 percent of registered voters said they would support the Democratic candidate if the 2018 midterm elections were held today, compared with 37 percent who say they would vote for the Republican candidate.

The poll, released Tuesday, was conducted from Oct. 18 to Oct. 30 among 2,019 adults. The margin of error is 2.6 percentage points.
