News anchor suing Fox: ‘Enough is enough’ on racism

A Fox News anchor suing the network says he hopes that his lawsuit encourages Americans to end racism.

“This racial divide that’s going on — we can talk about Fox News, but it’s happening everywhere,” Kelly Wright said Thursday on “CBS This Morning.” “And we as Americans have got to start standing up and saying enough is enough.

“I hope that the ‘R word,’ racism, becomes like the ‘N word’ and never used in our vocabulary ever again.”

{mosads}Reports emerged Tuesday that Wright had joined a lawsuit against Fox News alleging racial discrimination and harassment by the employer.

Wright is reportedly alleging that he “has been effectively sidelined and asked to perform the role of a ‘Jim Crow’ — the racist caricature of a Black entertainer.’”

The anchor also purportedly took issue with Fox News co-president Bill Shine, who allegedly “demonstrated an obsession with race” in conversations with Wright.

Wright additionally accused Fox News of criticizing him for attempting to cover the black community positively.

The news anchor joined Fox News in 2003 and frequently anchored “America’s News HQ” on Saturdays.

Wright’s allegations come as the network is trying to fend off accusations of racial discrimination by a dozen other current or former employees.

Fox News also announced last week that anchor Bill O’Reilly, one of its top stars, would not return to the network amid past sexual harassment allegations. O’Reilly’s exit follows the departure of former CEO and Chairman Roger Ailes in July, also over sexual harassment allegations.
