Drudge hires NY Post bureau chief: report
Conservative media heavyweight Matt Drudge has hired The New York Post’s former Washington bureau chief, according to a new report.
Daniel Halper will join the Drudge Report after working at the Post for just under a year, two sources told Politico Thursday.
Politico said it was not immediately clear what role Halper would have with the Drudge Report.
Halper previously worked as online editor of the right-leaning The Weekly Standard before joining the Post.
The writer also published a 2014 biography of the Clinton family titled “Clinton, Inc: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.”
Halper joined the Post in June 2016 before leaving the publication earlier this month.
Reports emerged Thursday that President Trump met with Drudge in the Oval Office.
Drudge also purportedly speaks regularly with Jared Kushner, the president’s senior adviser and son-in-law.
{mosads}The conservative media figure said earlier this month that he suspects Congress is intentionally undermining Trump’s agenda and has regularly blasted congressional Republicans on his Twitter feed and website.
“I suspect there’s a sabotage,” Drudge said on Michael Savage’s radio show.
“Do you know Obama had the stimulus package on his desk before Inauguration Day? What did this Congress give this great man? Nothing.”
Drudge added Trump’s administration is in a “crisis on many fronts” because of what he sees as congressional obstruction and a hostile media.
