Five Super Bowl commercials making the most buzz
It’s the morning after the Super Bowl, and once again the internet is buzzing with reviews from the tens of millions of people around the world who closely watched not just last night’s game, but the commercials.
Major corporations shelled out big bucks again this year for several high-budget ad slots before, during and after the game and halftime show. Many of the commercials were released online before Sunday’s broadcast on NBC, which was expected to net around 100 million viewers.
Here are five of the top Super Bowl ads that have people talking:
1. Chevy and The Sopranos
Chevrolet granted an Easter egg to superfans of the hit HBO show with an ad for its first-ever electric truck by placing Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Tony Soprano’s daughter Meadow on the series, in the driver’s seat.
The ad shows Sigler driving through New Jersey as the show’s iconic theme song plays. When Sigler stops to recharge her truck, Robert Iler, the actor who played her brother A.J. Soprano, shows up and the two embrace in a hug.
“You hear that ‘Sopranos’ music, I feel like it’s going to prompt everyone’s head to turn immediately to the screen and try to figure out what’s going on,” Sigler told Variety. “I think that’s what everybody hopes.”

2. Larry David and Crypto
The star of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” was featured in an ad Sunday for cryptocurrency provider FTX.
The ad shows the famously-cynical David as characters in history downplaying or doubting whether the American colonies could break off from England or if the United States could put a man on the moon. He then turns his nose up at the FTX app.
“Don’t be like Larry,” the ad jokes. “Don’t miss out on the next big thing.”
3. Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost promote Amazon
Amazon purchased a series of ads on NBC showing what could happen if your household “Alexa” could read minds.
The ad shows Alexa setting a reminder to buy mouth wash after the celebrity couple wakes up in bed together and setting a reminder for Jost to fake his own death on the day Johansson is slated to perform in a play he appears less than enthused to attend.
Jost and Johansson’s relationship is widely followed in celebrity circles and is often the subject of jokes from Jost’s “Saturday Night Live” castmates.

4. Doritos in the rainforest
Who doesn’t love animated furry animals? That must have been the logic of ad executives at PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay when they bought pricey time promoting a new brand of flaming hot Cheetos and Doritos.
The spot shows a confused hiker in the rainforest stopped in her tracks as the animals start to beat box and jam out to Salt-N-Pepa’s classic hit “Push It” after taking a bite of the spicy snack.
When the hiker tries to take the chips away from one of the furry creatures, a sloth tells her “nope” and scurries up a tree.

5. GM’s “Dr. EV-il”
Four cast members of the original hit Austin Powers movie were reunited for this ad promoting GM’s new fleet of electric vehicles.
The spot shows Dr. Evil, who has taken over at GM, being urged by his cronies to take climate change seriously and make reducing GM’s carbon footprint a priority.
“I’m sorry, am I no longer Dr. Evil? I’m doctor good now. I didn’t get the memo,” Mike Meyers says, portraying the famous super villain.
