Stephanie Ruhle will take Brian Williams’ 11 p.m. slot on MSNBC: report

Stephanie Ruhle will replace Brian Williams in the network’s nightly 11 p.m. slot, according to Axios.

Ruhle, a morning anchor for MSNBC and senior business correspondent for NBC News, will move from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., which Williams established as one of MSNBC’s top time slots with “The 11th Hour with Brian Williams.”

MSNBC will fold the 9 a.m. slot into the “Morning Joe,” which begins at 6 a.m., according to Axios.

MSNBC declined to comment to Axios on its report. The Hill has reached out to the network for comment. 

Williams stepped down from his MSNBC role in December after 28 years with NBC, including the last five hosting “The 11th Hour.”

Ruhle anchors the weekday shows “MSNBC Live with Stephanie Ruhle” and co-anchors “MSNBC Live with Velshi & Ruhle” with Ali Velshi.

Prior to working with MSNBC, Ruhle worked as anchor and managing editor for Bloomberg Television and as the editor-at-large for Bloomberg News.

When he announced his departure from the show in November, Williams said he was confident he was leaving the show in good hands.

“I was on the air for the launch of MSNBC. My return years later was my choice, as was launching The 11th Hour that I’m as proud of as the decade I spent anchoring Nightly News. I wanted it to be called The 11th Hour (it was late in the 2016 campaign) and I wanted it to air at 11pm Eastern time,” he said.

“I ask all those who are a part of our loyal viewing audience to remain loyal. The 11th Hour will remain in good hands, produced by the best team in cable news,” he added.
