Meghan McCain: COVID-19 battle made me doubt if nation will recover from pandemic

Meghan McCain, former co-host of “The View,” slammed President Biden and his administration while sharing her recent battle with COVID-19 for her column in The Daily Mail.

In her opinion piece, she took swipes at Biden and shared her struggles to find available coronavirus tests at pharmacies. She questioned why it was so difficult to have “readily available” testing and treatment options in the third year of the pandemic.

She noted that it was “easy for the media to — rightfully — blame Trump for the bungling of the early Covid-19 response” but that Biden and “his feckless, moronic, isolated Titanic of an administration gets the blame now.”

McCain noted Biden’s pledge during his electoral campaign in which he said “I will end this. I will shut down the virus, not the country.”

“I didn’t vote for the man (or Trump) but I had higher hopes for a better preparedness for the country and the fight to at least mitigate Covid more than a year into the Biden administration,” she added.

She shared that both she and her husband are fully vaccinated but added that she did not have “mild symptoms” and is still worried about “the unknown long-term side effects” that she may experience.

McCain wrote her COVID-19 infection “was so horrible it made me doubt if America will ever recover from this pandemic.”

The daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) added that she suffered from post-COVID-19 depression and anxiety and added “I can’t fathom how people without support, resources and international columns to tell their story feel.”

McCain, a frequent critic of the Biden administration while a co-host on “The View,” added that while she was struggling to find tests, she ruminated about “whether the last days of American greatness were finally upon us.”

However, she later wrote that she refuses to succumb to what she called “the left’s propaganda” that “America’s greatest days are behind her.”

She added that the country needs an “intense and immediate shift away from whatever depression this administration is continuing to let the country experience.”

The White House did not respond to The Hill’s request for comment.

Meghan McCain has previously suggested that Biden is on the path to become “worse than Jimmy Carter” and said he has failed to make good on a campaign promise to unite the country at a time of escalating partisan division nationwide.
