Fox News names Jacqui Heinrich as White House correspondent

Fox News has named Jacqui Heinrich as a White House correspondent for the network, The Hill has learned exclusively.

Heinrich, formerly a congressional correspondent for Fox, will work alongside current White House correspondent Peter Doocy covering the Biden administration beginning this week.

The move gives the network another face at the White House to bolster its coverage of the administration as the midterm elections approach.

Doocy has sparred repeatedly with White House press secretary Jen Psaki during briefings, including last month when she criticized a “loaded and inaccurate” question from him about vaccine misinformation on social media.

The tense exchange came at a time when the administration has sought to reach Fox audiences in an effort to boost vaccine numbers.

The network said that Fox News’s Aishah Hasnie will also be promoted to congressional correspondent and replace Heinrich. The outlet also announced the hiring of Alexandria Hoff, previously a reporter at CBS affiliate KYW-TV in Philadelphia, who will begin as a Washington, D.C.-based general assignment reporter in September.

“We look forward to adding Jacqui to our outstanding White House team alongside Peter Doocy and are pleased to welcome Aishah and Alex to our exceptional Washington bureau,” said Jay Wallace, president and executive editor of Fox News Media.

Heinrich, who joined Fox News in 2018, said covering the White House has been “a lifelong dream” of hers.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to report on the highest levels of the United States government for our audience and look forward to working closely with our incredibly talented team,” she said.

During her time at Fox, Heinrich has covered both the Democratic and Republican national conventions, Biden’s inauguration ceremonies and all the major development on Capitol Hill from former President Trump’s second impeachment to the ongoing congressional debate over infrastructure spending.

Doocy was hired to cover Biden’s White House in January. In May, former White House correspondent Kristin Fisher announced she was leaving the network and joining CNN to serve as a correspondent covering space.
