Axios congressional reporter Kadia Goba is rejoining BuzzFeed News, where she’ll cover national politics with a focus on the GOP.
“Kadia Goba will be returning to BuzzFeed News on June 1 as our new national political reporter focused on the future of the Republican Party,” politics editor Matt Berman wrote in a staff memo Thursday.
Goba will cover the GOP during this “sort-of-but-not-really post-Trump moment,” Berman added, saying she will report on Republicans both on and off Capitol Hill.
During a previous sting at BuzzFeed, Goba covered Congress and then the White House before leaving last fall for Axios.
“Her work is likely already familiar to most of you,” Berman added. “At Axios, she’s broken news across Congress, including a big scoop last week on House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy’s hot mic split with Liz Cheney.”
Separately, a report earlier this week said BuzzFeed is involved in a deal to buy digital lifestyle publisher Complex Networks and go public after merging with special acquisition company 890 Fifth Avenue Partners.
