Steve Kornacki inks multimillion-dollar deal with NBCUniversal 

Political correspondent Steve Kornacki has signed a four-year, multimillion-dollar deal with NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC and MSNBC, the company announced Thursday.

In addition to politics, Kornacki will bring his analytical skills to the “entertainment, sports and streaming networks of NBCUniversal,” the company said in a statement announcing the deal. 

NBCUniversal’s Television and Streaming Entertainment group is also developing a game show for Kornacki to host that will involve statistics, sports and politics, the company added. 

In addition, Kornacki will join NBC Sports where he’ll cover a wide variety of sports including this year’s Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. 

In November, he’ll help cover the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and will also return to Football Night in America as well as next year’s NBC coverage of the Super Bowl.

In addition, Kornacki will be an NBC Regional Sports Networks contributor following the NBA, NHL, MLB and NFL seasons prior to their respective playoff seasons.

Kornacki gained national prominence last year with his round-the-clock, enthusiastic breakdown of voting returns from the 2020 presidential election for MSNBC.

His khaki-clad television appearances boosted sales of the tan pants for Gap, and he was named to People magazine’s annual list of the “Sexiest Men Alive.”

Last year, capitalizing on his popularity and data acuity, NBCUniversal had Kornacki appear on “Sunday Night Football” during the regular season. He also contributed to coverage of the recent Kentucky Derby, correctly picking the winning horse.
