Former Washington Post editor Baron signs book deal on Trump era

Former Washington Post executive editor Martin Baron is writing a book about running the paper during the Trump administration, according to a publisher release. 

The president of Flatiron Books said in announcement shared Wednesday that Baron’s book will be titled “Collision of Power: Trump, Bezos, and The Washington Post.”

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos bought The Washington Post in August 2013 for $250 million.

“In ‘Collision of Power,’ he [Baron] not only takes readers inside one of America’s most storied newsrooms, but he’ll also explore the nature of power in the 21st century,” Flatiron editor Zachary Wagman said in the announcement.

The Post saw substantial growth and accolades under the leadership of Baron, who retired in February.

He was hired the same year Bezos bought the paper, and during his tenure the Post’s news staff grew from 580 to more than 1,000 people. 

Baron also served as executive editor of the Miami Herald and The Boston Globe. The Post has yet to name his replacement though it tasked managing editor Cameron Barr to act as interim executive editor after Baron left.
