Tulane adds Hunter Biden as guest speaker on media polarization

Tulane University has invited President Biden’s son Hunter Biden to be a guest speaker on media polarization in the United States.

A spokesperson for the university told The Hill that Hunter Biden will be a speaker for the course “Media Polarization and Public Policy Impacts.”

The online course, set to begin in the Fall 2021 semester, will be co-taught by Andrew Schwartz, who is the communications director for the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

News of Hunter Biden’s participation was first reported by Fox News. According to Fox, the course will examine “the current state of the media landscape in the United States and how media polarization, fake news and the economics of the new business impact public policymaking in Washington D.C.”

The class will run for 10 weeks, according to NOLA.com.

The spokesperson clarified that Hunter Biden will be a guest speaker- —not a guest teacher or lecturer.

Other guests expected to speak include former White House coronavirus coordinator Deborah Birx, CBS News “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan and Margaret Sullivan, columnist for The Washington Post.

Biden has been under intense scrutiny from conservative media over the past year as former President Trump sought to capitalize on his business dealings with a Ukrainian gas company.

After the 2020 presidential election, Biden disclosed that he was under federal investigation for his taxes.

He most recently came under scrutiny from the right amid reports that the Secret Service got intervened in a case involving a missing gun while President Biden was vice president. The White House and Secret Service have both said that the Secret Service was not involved.

Hunter Biden released a memoir earlier this month entitled “Beautiful Things,” which centers around his battle with substance abuse.
