Report: Lachlan Murdoch returning to the US in September

Lachlan Murdoch, CEO and executive chairman of Fox News’s parent company, Fox Corp., will move back to the United States in the fall after recently moving to Australia with his family, Reuters reported Wednesday.

Murdoch “will go back to working and living in the US” starting in September in order to help reopen the Los Angeles office of Fox Corp., a Fox spokesperson told Reuters.

He had moved to Australia, the country where his father Rupert Murdoch first began forging the family’s international media business, last month along with his wife and children.

Fox Corp. did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Hill.

“As with most CEOs of large companies, he’s looking forward to moving from working from home to working from the office,” the spokesperson told Reuters. The earliest reopening date for Fox offices could come as soon as Sept. 7, according to an internal memo obtained by Variety in March.

The announcement of Murdoch’s return to the states comes after the CEO, in a letter to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), defended Fox News host Tucker Carlson after the group had called for him to be fired. The ADL accused Carlson of parroting an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory during a recent interview. 

In early March, Murdoch garnered more headlines by saying Fox News would be President Biden’s loyal opposition in a Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom investors conference.
