Streaming service Hulu plans to release an extensive new documentary on the GameStop stock controversy next Monday, ABC News has announced.

The approximately hourlong film, titled “GameStopped,” examines the events surrounding the wild price fluctuations of GameStop stock after users on a Reddit forum began purchasing shares of the heavily shorted company.

The piece was produced by ABC News Originals, and staff on the effort — including ABC News chief business, technology and economics correspondent Rebecca Jarvis — were drawn from ABC News podcast “The Dropout.” ABC and Hulu are both owned by the Walt Disney Company.

The documentary features interviews with Reddit investors, Robinhood CEO Vladimir Tenev, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman and others caught up in the controversy.

In the wake of the trading furor, GameStop announced in February that its chief financial officer, Jim Bell, would resign on March 26. GameStop was also thrust into the political spotlight, with Republicans and Democrats debating the rapid stock fluctuations at a virtual hearing of the House Financial Services Committee in late February.

ABC announced the documentary’s release on Wednesday as shares of GameStop spiked again, jumping more than 40 percent and putting it near the peak set in late January.
