McEnany: Trump ‘doing just fine’ without social media

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Friday that former President Trump is “doing just fine” without social media.

Trump was banned from several social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Several companies also panned him for spreading false information about the 2020 election.

Following the bans, the former president made several attempts to make his way back onto social media, at one point tweeting sharing remarks through other accounts and threatening to create his own platform.

McEnany, who is now a contributor for Fox News, discussed Trump’s social media departure with Fox Business’ Stuart Varney.

“He said it was kind of freeing not to have Twitter,” she said. “He had a lot of time on his hands. So I think he’s doing just fine without social media.”

McEnany argued that Trump being removed from social media platforms pointed to “cancel culture,” which she condemned as not about stopping misinformation and violence but “about stopping Trump.”

“What a travesty, this cancel culture, this root someone out of the public square,” she told Varney.

Trump was permanently banned from Twitter, while Facebook is evaluating whether or not the former president will be allowed back onto the platform.

YouTube’s CEO also said this week that Trump’s account would be reinstated when “the risk of violence has decreased.”
