CNN changes morning, afternoon lineups

CNN is overhauling its morning and afternoon lineups, with new hosts for several shows starting in April, the network announced Wednesday.

The cable news network’s morning show “New Day,” which runs from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. ET, will be co-hosted by John Berman and Brianna Keilar, who most recently anchored “Right Now” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.

Keilar is replacing Alisyn Camerota, who will anchor CNN’s weekday afternoon show, “Newsroom,” from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with Victor Blackwell, who has been anchoring “Weekend New Day.”

Weekend anchor Ana Cabrera will be moving to weekdays to handle the CNN “Newsroom” weekday slot, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Several weekday hosts and shows remain unaffected by the changes, including Poppy Harlow’s and Jim Sciutto’s anchor duties for “Newsroom,” from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Kate Bolduan’s hosting role for “At This Hour,” from 11 a.m. to noon; and John King’s position as anchor of “Inside Politics with John King” from noon to 1 p.m.

Weekday show “Early Start,” which airs from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m., will continue to be co-anchored by Laura Jarrett and Christine Romans.

On the weekends, Fredricka Whitfield remains as anchor of “Newsroom’s” midday coverage and Pamela Brown also stays in her recently announced anchor role on “Newsroom” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The announcements come a day after Brooke Baldwin, the host of the 3 to 4 p.m. weekday slot of CNN’s “Newsroom” show announced she was leaving the network.
