Fox News selects Peter Doocy as White House correspondent

Fox News has selected Peter Doocy as a White House correspondent to cover President-elect Joe Biden’s administration, the network announced on Wednesday. 

Doocy, the son of “Fox & Friends” co-host Steve Doocy, will begin coverage of the White House starting on Inauguration Day next week. He will join fellow White House correspondent Kristin Fisher, who will remain in her role reporting on the president.  

The incoming White House correspondent has covered Biden’s campaign since he announced his candidacy in April 2019. He has reported for every midterm and presidential election since he joined the network in 2009. 

Doocy is slated to take the position as chief White House correspondent John Roberts plans to host a daily news program called “America Reports” along with Sandra Smith. The show will air from 1 to 3 p.m. during weekdays starting on Jan. 18.

Roberts’s move comes alongside several switch-ups in the network’s daytime schedule that Fox News announced earlier this week to prepare for the new administration.

Jay Wallace, the president and executive editor of Fox News Media, said he is “confident” that Doocy and Fisher will “provide our viewers with informative insights” from the Biden administration.

“Peter’s affable nature, tireless work ethic and dedication to advancing the story on the campaign trail further enhanced our reporting throughout the historic 2020 election cycle,” Wallace said in a release.

Last month, the president-elect criticized Doocy, calling him a “one-horse pony” after the correspondent asked about the federal investigation into Biden’s son Hunter Biden that was announced weeks before. 

“Yes, yes, yes. God love you, man. You’re a one-horse pony,” Biden answered while he walked offstage after a press conference. “I promise you my Justice Department will be totally on its own, making its judgments about how they should proceed.” 

Last year, Fox News boasted its fifth consecutive year as the most-watched cable network.

But several conservatives and supporters of President Trump expressed frustration with the network’s election coverage, specifically that Fox News was among the first outlets to call Arizona in favor of Biden.
