Geraldo Rivera urges Trump: ‘Exit with dignity and grace’

Fox News’s Geraldo Rivera on Tuesday urged President Trump to leave the White House with “dignity and grace” ahead of Congress formally certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory next week.

“Whatever is planned for January 6th, true friends of @realDonaldTrump want him to remember the country comes first. The presidency means more than any individual,” Rivera wrote on Twitter.

Rivera, who has been a close Trump ally in the past, noted earlier this month that the president had not spoken to him since he acknowledged Biden as the winner of last month’s presidential election — going against Trump’s unproven claims that the election was stolen from him.

“He didn’t take my calls the last two times I tried,” Rivera said at the time.

Trump last week blasted Republicans for declining to back his effort to overturn the election results.

On Sunday, he tweeted, “See you in Washington, DC, on January 6th. Don’t miss it. Information to follow!” referring to Congress’s final certification of the election results.

Vice President Pence’s former aide Olivia Troye, who has since publicly criticized the Trump administration, said earlier this week that she is concerned there may be violence following the certification and accused the president of encouraging it.

“This is what he does. He tweets, he incites it, and he gets followers and supporters to behave in this manner, and they believe they are being patriots because they’re supporting the president,” Troye said.
