Fox News, ABC, CNN journalists win awards for Washington reporting
Fox, ABC and CNN journalists won Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association (RTCA) awards on Monday for their reporting in Washington, D.C.
Fox News congressional correspondent Chad Pergram, ABC News foreign correspondent James Longman and CNN photojournalist Eddie Gross all won awards, the RTCA announced.
Pergram, who has been at Fox News since 2007, received the 36th annual Joan S. Barone Award for excellence “in congressional and political affairs reporting,” named after the late CBS News executive. He previously won the award in 2006.
This year, his reporting centered on President Trump’s impeachment, the Robert Mueller investigation and contempt of Congress citations.
Pergram’s award comes with a $2,000 check, which he said he will donate to the Edgewood High School Holiday Help Fund, his alma mater in Trenton, Ohio.
The 15th annual David Bloom Award for “enterprise, investigative or feature reporting” was awarded to Longman, who has been with ABC News since 2017 and is based in London. He has reported in more than 30 countries in his career so far.
Very proud to have won the David Bloom award from @RTCACapitolHill for our coverage of LGBT abuses in Chechnya. Never given an acceptance speech from my living room before. Team effort @ABC @nightline pic.twitter.com/qtbX50xI6j

Gross was given the ninth annual Jerry Thompson Memorial Award, which is awarded to a “photojournalist who is a selfless teacher and mentor, consistently reaches beyond expectations both professionally and personally” and encompasses “the epitome of friendship.”
Throughout Gross’s career, he has covered six presidents and several kings, queens and prime ministers from around the world. On Capitol Hill, he works alongside CNN congressional correspondent Manu Raju, who congratulated him over Twitter.
The Career Achievement Award was given to Linda Kenyon, who most recently worked as a Capitol Hill correspondent and backup White House correspondent for Westwood One News. Kenyon is the second woman to win the award, after NBC News correspondent Kelly O’Donnell won last year.
The RTCA revamped the usual ceremony, dinner and speeches this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, instead making the announcement on a special website.
