Titans-Steelers NFL game postponed after positive COVID-19 tests: report

Sunday’s NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans in Nashville is being postponed over the coronavirus, according to an ESPN report on Wednesday.

The postponement comes after four players and five other members of the organization tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the team and its previous opponent, the Minnesota Vikings, to suspend in-person club activities.

ESPN reports that the game could be moved to Monday or played at a later date.

Those who tested positive will quarantine, per NFL health guidelines. Testing will also be conducted for those who may have been in close contact with the eight people who tested positive.

“Out of the abundance of caution, the organization has decided to work remotely today as we follow NFL protocols related to the COVID-19 virus,” the Titans said in a Tuesday statement. “Several tests have come back positive and are working through the process of confirming them. We will have more information tomorrow.”

The four Titans who tested positive include starting nose tackle DaQuan Jones, special teams long-snapper Beau Brinkley and practice squad tight end Tommy Hudson.

The Titans also announced Tuesday their team facilities were closed until Saturday, making preparation for the undefeated Steelers a difficult task.

The Vikings had no positive results in their most recent round of coronavirus testing, according to an NFL spokesperson on Wednesday. Minnesota plays at the Houston Texans on Sunday.
