MSNBC’s Deutsch compares Trump to Hitler, says president’s Jewish supporters ‘walking like a lemming off a cliff’

Former MSNBC host Donny Deutsch compared President Trump to Adolf Hitler during a Wednesday appearance on the network while accusing Jewish voters of “walking like a lemming off a cliff” in supporting the Republican incumbent.

“I want to talk to my Jewish friends who are voting for Donald Trump. How dare you? How dare you, with what our people have gone through in history, and you see a man who is a dictator. And once you give a man absolute power, he is possible of anything,” Deutsch, currently an MSNBC contributor, argued on “Morning Joe.” “And if you are a Jew in this country and you are supporting Donald Trump, you are not looking back at our history. And you are blind and you are walking like a lemming off a cliff.”

“It is time to wake up. I’m sorry. This is where we are. There is no difference from what Donald Trump is preaching, from what Adolf Hitler preached in the early ’30s. Let’s just say it once and for all,” Deutsch, a marketing and branding executive, added.

Trump has hit back at Deutsch on social media in the past, but had not responded to his latest remarks on Wednesday.

The commentary from Deutsch comes one week after Trump hosted a historic signing ceremony at the White House South Lawn that marked Israel normalizing relations with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed the Abraham Accords with Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani and Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sept. 15.

The agreements mark the first time an Arab country has normalized relations with Israel since Jordan in 1994.

Trump’s numbers with the Jewish community appear to be improving since the 2016 election.

According to a survey commissioned by the Jewish Electorate Institute, 67 percent of Jewish voters polled said they support Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, while 30 percent said they plan to vote for Trump, with 3 percent undecided.

A Pew Research Center analysis of 2016 exit polls saw Hillary Clinton winning 71 percent of Jewish voters four years ago, while Trump captured just 24 percent.

“Morning Joe” once scheduled then-candidate Trump on a regular basis for largely friendly interviews before a falling out after the NBC “Apprentice” star captured the GOP nomination in 2016.
