Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a multiyear production deal with Netflix, saying, “Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.”

The deal with Netflix will sponsor their efforts to create documentaries, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming, according to The New York Times.

The move comes just six months after the royal couple exited Britain, leaving their full-time work at the House of Windsor.

“As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us,” the couple said in a statement, adding, “unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action.”

It is unclear how much the couple were offered for the deal with Netflix, and a spokeswoman declined to comment to the Times.

“We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere,” Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-chief executive and chief content officer, said in a statement.

The couple reportedly was previously in discreet talks with Disney and Apple, and Variety reported earlier this month they also spoke with representatives at NBCUniversal.

Still, as other streaming companies compete against one another for exclusive rights to premium content packages, Netflix has scored big with attaining public figures, such as its deals with the Obama family and “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.”

Netflix has 193 million subscribers worldwide.
