Trump announces Tuesday interview with ABC’s ‘World News Tonight’

President Trump has announced that he will be interviewed by ABC’s “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir on Tuesday night.

Will be doing a major interview tonight at 6:30 P.M. Eastern with @DavidMuir on @ABCWorldNews Tonight.

Trump has been interviewed by Muir before, including shortly after taking office in 2017 in his first nationally televised interview as president. 

Muir’s “World News Tonight” has been the most-watched program in the country for the past three weeks, according to Nielsen Media Research, averaging more than 10.5 million viewers. 

Trump visited Phoenix on Tuesday to tour a Honeywell factory involved in mask production amid the coronavirus pandemic, his first trip off the East Coast in weeks as the nation has been locked down over the outbreak.

The administration announced on Tuesday that it is in the early phases of winding down its coronavirus task force as states begin the process of reopening.

The ABC sit-down comes after the president said in a New York Post interview on Monday that task force press briefings will return, but a definitive date for them has not been set. 

“You know, we didn’t stop them. I mean, this is breaking, this, but we didn’t stop them. Because we’ll probably do maybe one a week, sometimes two depending on the news, but Kayleigh’s going to be able to do them,” Trump said, referring to press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

“We’ll do them. We get a lot of people watching, and it’s the way that you get around fake news. In other words, I have a much bigger audience than anybody’s ever had,” he added.
