CNN’s Richard Quest tests positive for coronavirus

CNN’s Richard Quest announced Monday he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, making him the third on-air employee with the network to test positive.

“I have caught coronavirus. I am blessed in that I have few symptoms – just a cough. I am saving my prayers and thoughts for those less fortunate. Stay in. And protect lives,” Quest tweeted shortly after making an on-air announcement.

The news comes after anchors Chris Cuomo and Brooke Baldwin also shared they were diagnosed with COVID-19.

All three are based in New York. The death toll in the state has risen to 12,654, according to Johns Hopkins University, the highest coronavirus death toll in the country. The U.S. death toll exceeded 40,000 over the weekend.

Other New York-based media members, including ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and Fox News Channel’s Jedediah Bila, also have contracted COVID-19.

The British-born Quest joined CNN in 2001.
