President Trump Tuesday morning slammed the MSNBC and CNN shows “Morning Joe” and “New Day” while lauding “Fox & Friends” for “a total blowout” that he said came from treating him fairly.
“Wow! @foxandfriends blew away the competition of Morning Joke (which did very poorly) on MSDNC (Another Comcast sleaze production), and @CNN’s New Day, in the Morning Television Ratings,” Trump tweeted to his more than 73 million followers. “A total blowout, but that’s what you get when you treat ‘Trump’ fairly!”
Trump has often taken to Twitter to praise the Fox News morning program while citing its viewership.
In February, “Fox & Friends” marked 220 consecutive months as the top cable news program, delivering an average of 1.8 million total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.
MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” was second with 1.1 total million viewers, followed by CNN’s “New Day” with an average of 496,000 viewers.
In the key 25- to 54-year-old demographic, “Fox & Friends” was first with 350,000 viewers, followed by “Morning Joe” with 178,000 viewers and “New Day” with 126,000 in the category.
Also on Tuesday, “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough recommended that Trump shouldn’t watch the program due to its scathing criticism.
“I’m not like the surgeon general, but I can tell you that you watching ‘Morning Joe’ every day is really bad for your mental health,” Scarborough said. “So we ask if you will please, as a service to the United States of America and those senior citizens who we’re trying to protect, we ask that you watch ‘Fox & Friends.’ Don’t watch us. Stay focused and do what’s best for America.”
Trump has not appeared on MSNBC since May 2016 after enjoying a friendly relationship while doing regular phone interviews with “Morning Joe” throughout the 2016 Republican primary season.
