Trevor Noah mocks Kamala Harris for ‘hostage-style video’ endorsement of Biden

“Daily Show” host Trevor Noah mocked a video of Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif) endorsing 2020 Democratic presidential primary front-runner Joe Biden, calling it a “hostage-style video” that “looked weird.”

“Now, please send $10,000 in unmarked bills so that my family can see me again,” Noah quipped after playing the video. “I don’t understand why Kamala Harris shot this hostage-style video to show her support for Joe Biden. It looks weird. It really does.”

“I bet even the Taliban is looking at this video, like: ‘We had better lighting and we were in a cave! Much better, much better.’ “

The video, which appears to be shot with a cellphone and shows Harris standing in front of a brick wall, was released over the weekend. Her endorsement of Biden came just before voters in six states, including Michigan, cast ballots on Tuesday.

Harris is seen by some political pundits as one of Biden’s top choices to be his vice presidential choice, along with 2018 Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.

“My administration, from vice president on, is gonna look like the country,” Biden told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell on Monday night. He added that several women meet an important criteria that his vice presidential selection “is simpatico with me in terms of where I want to take the country.”

Harris dominated headlines after a contentious Democratic primary debate exchange in June, when the California senator and Biden squared off on the topic of mandatory school busing in the 1970s. She got a bump in the polls after that debate but could not maintain momentum and dropped out of the race in late 2019.

Biden currently leads Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in delegates after a strong showing on Super Tuesday last week.
