As the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump approaches its second week, several Senators who have sat silently through hours of opening arguments are scheduled to appear during this week’s Sunday talk show lineup.
The trial began Tuesday and went on until Saturday afternoon and will resume Monday.
Several senators making bids for the White House have been forced to sit out from the campaign trail for the duration of the trial. Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) are not scheduled to appear on any Sunday shows, as it is the one day they are able to campaign away from Washington, weeks before the Iowa caucuses.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), however, is scheduled to appear on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” days after announcing a string of rallies in Iowa despite the impeachment trial.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), chairman of the Intelligence committee and the head impeachment manager will also appear on “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
Schiff has made several headlines this week as he and the other House impeachment managers attempt to sway the Republican-controlled Senate to bring in witnesses and ultimately vote to remove the president.
Fellow impeachment managers, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) and Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.) will appear on CNN’s “State of the Union” and CBS’s “Face the Nation,” respectively.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Reps. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) and Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), all fierce defenders of the president throughout the impeachment proceedings in both chambers, are scheduled to appear on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
On Friday, Graham, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, said an investigation into the Bidens should be initiated once the impeachment trial concludes.
