Abby Huntsman leaving ‘The View’ to help run father’s gubernatorial campaign

ABC’s Abby Huntsman announced Monday that she’s departing “The View” to help run her father’s gubernatorial campaign in Utah.

Huntsman, a former “Fox & Friends Weekend” host, jumped to the ABC roundtable opinion program in September 2018.

She will join the campaign of Jon Huntsman (R), who is running to retake the Utah governor’s job he held from 2005 to 2009 before stepping down to become the U.S. ambassador to China during the Obama administration.

The 33-year-old Abby Huntsman posted a photo on Twitter previewing the exit on Saturday.

During “The View” on Monday, she further explained her decision.

“There’s no one I believe more than my own dad right now to run for politics,” Huntsman said. “It’s not often in life that you get these moments to go fight for something that you are so passionate about.”

Huntsman launched her media career with ABC News while serving as an intern for Diane Sawyer at “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight.” She went on to work at ABC as a news desk assistant and booker before joining MSNBC in 2013.

Huntsman went on to work at Fox News in 2015 as a general assignment reporter before being named “Fox & Friends Weekend” host in December 2016.

Her last appearance on “The View” will be Jan. 17.
