MSNBC’s Donny Deutsch: ‘Pathetic’ Republicans who stormed closed hearing are ‘boring, nerdy-looking white guys’
MSNBC’s Donny Deutsch on Thursday morning called Republican lawmakers who stormed a closed-door hearing on Capitol Hill to protest the impeachment inquiry into President Trump “middle-aged, boring, nerdy-looking white guys” and “pathetic people.”
“When watching those Republicans yesterday march — those white guys, those middle-aged, boring, nerdy-looking white guys walk down those steps was pathetic,” Deutsch, a marketing and branding expert, opined on “Morning Joe.”
{mosads}“I challenge all of those guys two and three years from now, because they are living today, Donald Trump is going to be viewed very differently a few years from now, and I can’t wait to be doing the campaign of anybody running against those guys to show these pathetic wienies walking down that step like lemmings, ” he continued.
“There was a 1984 Super Bowl commercial for Apple where they show these guys just marching in lockstep. How pathetic. How do you go home and look at your wife and children? They’re just pathetic people,” Deutsch concluded.
House Republicans stormed the hearing on Wednesday to protest the impeachment inquiry process, which is led by House Democrats.
“The fact that [House Intelligence Committee Chairman] Adam Schiff won’t even let the press in — you can’t even go in and see what’s going on in that room,” House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) told reporters on Wednesday. “Voting members of Congress are being denied access from being able to see what’s happening behind these closed doors, where they’re trying to impeach the president of the United States with a one-sided set of rules, they call the witnesses.”
GOP Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Bradley Byrne (Ala.), Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Louie Gohmert (Texas), Steve King (Iowa) and members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus also entered the secure room.
“When we walked in, they looked dumbfounded and the room just came to a stop,” Byrne told The Hill on Wednesday. “And we lined up along the wall or sat in chairs expecting them to do something. And after several minutes, Adam Schiff got up and just walked out. And while he was walking out I said, ‘Don’t go.’”
Republicans have consistently slammed Democrats for only permitting members of the House Intelligence, Oversight and Reform, and Foreign Affairs committees to attend the hearings and depositions regarding the impeachment inquiry, which was sparked by Trump’s request to Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a leading 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, and his son Hunter.
