Alex Trebek says that his battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer may result in him leaving “Jeopardy!” due to chemotherapy treatment causing sores in his mouth that are making it difficult to enunciate properly.

Trebek revealed the possibility during an interview with CTV News on Friday.

{mosads}“I’m sure there are observant members of the television audience that notice also, but they’re forgiving,” Trebek said. “But there will come a point when they will no longer be able to say, ‘It’s OK.'”

Trebek, who has hosted the popular game show since 1984, added that he will continue to move forward with the show “as long as my skills do not diminish.”

“There are weaknesses I feel in my body but I can always suck it up when it comes to tape the show,” he said.

The Canadian-American also shared that death doesn’t scare him while talking about his eulogy.

“I’m not afraid of dying,” Trebek said. “I’ve lived a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life … If it happens, why should I be afraid of that?”

“One thing they’re not going to say at my funeral, as a part of a eulogy, is ‘He was taken from us too soon,’” he added.

“Jeopardy!” attracts more than 10 million viewers per night, making it the most popular among all syndicated shows.
