GOP strategist backtracks after falsely claiming Fox News won’t show Mueller testimony

Republican strategist Rick Wilson issued a correction Monday after falsely claiming on MSNBC that Fox News was not planning to cover former special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony before Congress on Wednesday.

“Fox isn’t covering the hearings, which should also tell you how scared they are of what could happen on [Wednesday morning],” Wilson alleged on “Deadline: White House” with host Nicolle Wallace.

{mosads}”They’re apparently not going to take [the hearings] live. Everyone else is taking them live,” he added.

Wilson, a staunch critic of President Trump, later offered a correction on Twitter after Trump supporters pointed out the error.

The retraction came the day after MSNBC contributor and former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance also backtracked after claiming that Fox News would not air Mueller’s highly anticipated testimony.

“I’ve deleted an earlier tweet I intended ironically, but that some took as factual regarding Fox news coverage of Mueller’s testimony,” Vance tweeted. “My apologies to anyone I confused. I don’t like to delete tweets but that seems a better course than unintentionally misinforming people.”

Fox News has been actively promoting its Mueller testimony coverage for the past two weeks. “Special Report” anchor Bret Baier and “The Story” host Martha MacCallum will be anchoring coverage on Wednesday, as Baier noted on Twitter.
